Our Policies & Procedures
TRJ Sober Living Homes & Caring Homes is committed to providing a safe, structured, and supportive environment. The following policies govern life in our homes.
All residents are expected to read, understand, and abide by the following policies. These guidelines exist to protect the health, safety, and dignity of every person in our care.
Admission & Eligibility
- Residents must be 18 years of age or older.
- All residents must complete an intake application and sign the Resident Agreement prior to move-in.
- Residents must be willing to maintain sobriety and comply with all house rules.
- TRJ reserves the right to deny admission based on the safety and compatibility of the current house community.
- A valid photo ID and proof of income or sponsorship are required at intake.
Sobriety & Substance Use
- Zero tolerance for alcohol, illegal drugs, or misuse of prescription medications on the premises.
- Random drug and alcohol testing may be conducted at any time.
- Any resident found in violation of the sobriety policy will be subject to immediate discharge.
- Residents are encouraged to participate in recovery support programs such as AA, NA, or other evidence-based programs.
- Prescription medications must be disclosed to house management and stored securely.
Curfew & Attendance
- Curfew is 10:00 PM Sunday through Thursday and 11:00 PM Friday and Saturday unless otherwise approved.
- Residents must notify house management in advance if they will be absent overnight.
- Attendance at weekly house meetings is mandatory.
- Residents are expected to maintain employment, attend school, or actively participate in a structured recovery program.
- Repeated curfew violations may result in discharge.
Visitors & Guests
- Visitors are permitted in common areas only and must be approved by house management.
- Visiting hours are 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily.
- Overnight guests are not permitted without prior written approval.
- Visitors who appear to be under the influence of substances will not be allowed entry.
- Residents are responsible for the conduct of their guests.
Chores & House Responsibilities
- All residents are assigned weekly chores on a rotating basis.
- Personal living spaces must be kept clean and orderly at all times.
- Common areas including kitchen, bathrooms, and living room must be cleaned after each use.
- Dishes must be washed and put away immediately after meals.
- Failure to complete assigned chores may result in loss of privileges or other consequences.
Financial Responsibilities
- Program fees are due on the 1st of each month. A grace period of 3 days is allowed.
- Late fees may apply after the grace period.
- Residents who are unable to pay must communicate with management before the due date.
- Non-payment of fees may result in discharge.
- No refunds are issued for voluntary departures or policy violations.
Conduct & Respect
- Residents must treat all staff, housemates, and visitors with dignity and respect.
- Verbal abuse, threats, harassment, or physical violence will result in immediate discharge.
- Theft of any kind will result in immediate discharge and may be reported to law enforcement.
- Residents must respect the privacy and personal property of others.
- Noise must be kept at a reasonable level, especially during quiet hours (10:00 PM – 7:00 AM).
Discharge & Grievance
- Residents may be discharged for violation of any policy outlined in the Resident Agreement.
- In non-emergency situations, residents will receive a written notice prior to discharge.
- Residents wishing to file a grievance must submit a written complaint to house management within 5 business days of the incident.
- All grievances will be reviewed and a response provided within 10 business days.
- Voluntary departures require a minimum 7-day written notice.
